Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Kaptin collects, how that data is used, and how users can request deletion or contact support.
Overview
- Kaptin is a football app designed to help users find local matches, see where games are played, and join organized matches as individuals or teams.
- Kaptin does not sell personal data.
- Kaptin does not use personal data for cross-app advertising tracking.
- Kaptin uses account, verification, match, team, venue, and support information only to provide, protect, and support the app.
Information Kaptin may collect
- Account data: email address, authentication identifiers, and session information.
- Phone verification data: phone number, verification status, timestamps, and temporary verification records when phone verification is used.
- Profile and onboarding data: nickname, preferred language, school-stage value, gender, date of birth, or similar profile details if the user provides them.
- Football activity data: matches created, matches joined, team participation, organizer notes, and match availability details when those features are used.
- Venue data: pitch name, city, area, address, match time, and venue notes when submitted or displayed through the app.
- Support data: messages users send to support, including email address and request details.
- Usage and device data: basic technical information needed for security, abuse prevention, reliability, and troubleshooting.
Location and distance to nearby venues
- If you choose “Use my location,” Kaptin asks for foreground location access only to calculate the distance between your device and venues that have coordinates. On Android, the app requests approximate location only and does not request precise or background location.
- Your current location is used only in device memory to display distance. Kaptin app code does not store it, send it to Kaptin servers, use it for advertising, or access it in the background.
- If location services or permission are off, or a venue has no coordinates, Kaptin hides the distance. You can use the rest of the app without granting location access.
How Kaptin uses data
- Create and manage user accounts.
- Verify phone numbers during signup when phone verification is used.
- Show football matches, venue details, team availability, organizer notes, and account settings.
- Help users request to join matches or participate as a team when those features are available.
- Protect the app from abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.
- Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.
- Maintain and improve app reliability.
Operational partners
- Kaptin may use trusted operational partners to run, protect, verify, host, maintain, and support the service.
- These partners may process limited information only for those purposes and under confidentiality, security, and legal obligations.
- Kaptin does not sell personal data or allow partners to use personal data for their own advertising.
Data sharing
- Kaptin may share limited information only when needed to operate the app, protect users, provide support, process requests, or comply with law.
- Kaptin may disclose data if required by law, legal process, or to protect users, the app, or the public.
- Kaptin does not sell personal data.
Account deletion and privacy choices
- Users can delete their account from Account Settings inside the app.
- Users can also email contact@kaptin.net with the subject “Kaptin account deletion request”.
- Deletion removes the account and related profile records from active app systems unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling.
- Users may contact support to ask what data is associated with their account.
Children and age-sensitive use
- Kaptin is not directed to children under 13.
- If a user is under the age required by local law to consent to digital services, they should use Kaptin only with parent or guardian permission.
- If a parent or guardian believes a child provided personal data without permission, contact support for deletion assistance.
Security
- Kaptin uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect account data.
- Kaptin does not describe internal security measures publicly because doing so could reduce their effectiveness.
- No system is perfectly secure. Users should use a strong password and contact support if they believe their account is at risk.
International processing
- Operational partners may process data in countries different from the user’s country.
- Where required, Kaptin relies on appropriate legal bases and provider safeguards for processing.
Changes to this policy
- Kaptin may update this policy when app features, providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices change.
- The effective date on this page will change when the policy is updated.
